What is the Zipline Platform 2?
Zipline Platform 2, also called P2 or Zip, is Zipline's second generation delivery system, unveiled on March 15, 2023. It pairs a fixed wing drone that cruises at up to 70 mph with a smaller tethered delivery droid that descends from roughly 300 feet to place packages within about a meter of a target, letting it drop orders on a porch or doorstep instead of an open field. The drone carries up to 8 pounds of cargo within a 10 mile service radius and can dock and recharge autonomously between flights. Zipline began its first at scale P2 rollout with Walmart in the Dallas Fort Worth area in April 2025, following earlier P2 pilots for retail and restaurant delivery.
