What is the Anduril Ghost-X?

Ghost-X is Anduril's larger variant of its Ghost family of autonomous unmanned aircraft systems, unveiled on September 12, 2023 at the DSEI defense show. It is a helicopter style drone, using a main and tail rotor rather than a multicopter layout, and it can be broken down into a rifle case or soft tactical case and reassembled by a two person team in minutes. Compared to the original Ghost, the X variant doubles payload capacity to about 9 kilograms and, with a dual battery configuration, extends flight endurance to roughly 75 minutes over an operating range of about 25 kilometers. It flies with vision based navigation that does not depend on GPS, carries interchangeable electro optical and infrared sensor payloads, and is controlled through Anduril's Lattice software. In 2024 the U.S. Army selected Ghost-X for its company level small unmanned aircraft system requirement under the Replicator initiative.
