What is the Phoenix?

Phoenix is Sanctuary AI's general purpose humanoid robot, with its seventh generation unveiled on April 25, 2024, less than a year after the sixth generation and about 16 months after the fifth generation's first commercial deployment in January 2023. It stands about 1.70 meters tall, weighs around 70 kilograms, moves on a wheeled base at up to 1.34 meters per second, and uses 20 degree of freedom hydraulic hands built for dexterous manipulation. Phoenix runs on Sanctuary's Carbon AI control system and is produced and deployed through a manufacturing relationship with automotive supplier Magna, with Sanctuary saying Gen 7 cut the time to teach the robot a new task from weeks to under 24 hours.
